Immerse yourself in the landscapes of Málaga, a region with deep-rooted pastoral traditions and home to the Malagueña goat, a native breed renowned for its milkquality and adaptability to semi-extensive conditions. Andalusia alone produces over 40 % of Spain’s goat milk, yet organic and extensive systems face increasingpressure. This cross visit showcases how farmers, cooperatives, and advisors areblending traditional knowledge with innovation to build more sustainable andresilient systems.

What you can expect from this cross visit
  • Sustainable pasture management under dry Mediterranean conditions (average annual rainfall: 400 mm), including direct seeding, multi-species pastures, andinput reduction strategies.
  • Organic farm open days - important element of raising awareness of consumer
  • On-farm research and digital tools for monitoring livestock and optimising grazing systems.
  • Field visits to organic farms, cheese cooperatives, and farmers’ organisations.
  • Interactive discussions on resilience, climate change adaptation, and advisory practices in pastoral systems.
  • Governance insights, with a focus on farmer cooperation and advisory support.
  • and loads of cheese ? !
 
Registration

You will be asked to provide some personal information, a brief description of your interest in joining this visit and your capacity in covering your travel costs.

Participation is not guaranteed because the number of advisors who may join the visit is limited. Participants will received a confirmation message.

First-round registration deadline: 6 October 2025; Confirmation: 10 October 2025

Requirements

Full participation across the 3-day programme is expected (except for local participants). Suggested arrival: by 13:00 CET on 11 November. Suggested departure: after 14:00 CET on 13 November.

 
Participants

Agricultural advisor supporting organic farmers or farmers in conversion and advisors or young graduates willing to gain competences in organic advice are welcome to join this cross visit. Maximum 15 participants.

 
 
Travel costs

In case you – ory our organization – do not have budget to cover the cross visit costs, the project advisory partner in your respective country might be able to reimburse them partly or totally.

Who covers what?

Participants selected for a travel grant will have their costs reimbursed, as fundingis limited. Please check eligibility with your national advisory partner.

Eligible countries for travel reimbursement: FR, DE, IT, BG, EE, DK, AT, CH, HU, ES, PT, HR, RO, IE, NL, SE, FI, CZ, PL, GR, SI, RS.

Eligible costs:Transport (flights, trains), accommodation (2 – 3 nights), and meals (group lunches/ dinners).

Maximum reimbursement:

  • 400 € for local advisors

  • 800 € for cross visits from abroad

Estimated on-site costs:Approx. 200 € for accommodation (2 nights), meals, and activities during the cross visit (excluding travel to/ from Málaga).
