Mapping of Organic Advisory Services

Where are organic advisory services already well established—and where do gaps, fragmentation, or untapped potential remain? This report offers a first Europe-wide mapping of actors, structures, and networks, providing both strategic orientation and a solid evidence base to better understand and strengthen advisory systems in practice.

This report provides a structured analysis of current Organic advisory services across Europe are highly diverse, widely connected—and still unevenly structured. The report *Mapping of Organic Advisory Services* delivers the first systematic overview of this landscape, based on more than 350 responses from organisations across the continent.

The findings show a sector dominated by small and medium-sized providers, ranging from public bodies and private consultancies to NGOs and farmer organisations. Despite their size, these actors form dense and often well-functioning networks, frequently collaborating with research institutions and public authorities. Advisory services typically cover technical guidance, organic conversion support, and access to funding schemes.

At the same time, the analysis reveals significant fragmentation. There is no single dominant funding model: while many organisations rely heavily on public funding, others combine this with private income streams such as fees or memberships. This heterogeneity reflects national differences but also points to structural inconsistencies across Europe.

The report highlights a key tension: strong collaboration and practical expertise exist, yet system-level coordination and comparable data remain limited. As a result, the full potential of advisory services is not yet realised.

By mapping actors, structures, and relationships, the report provides a crucial evidence base for strengthening advisory systems. It lays the groundwork for more targeted networking, improved policy support, and the development of tools and training formats that respond to real needs in practice.

Reflect on the mapped advisory landscape, share your perspectives on existing structures and gaps, and discuss how these findings relate to your own advisory context and experience.
