Climate Change Challenges in Organic Fruit Production and Alternative Growing Systems (agroforestry, permaculture, silvopastoral)

OrganicAdviceNetwork project aims at building a strong network of advisors with organic competences across Europe. As part of this mission, the project organizes cross visits for agricultural advisors to meet, exchange and share their innovative organic farming practices.

What you can expect from this cross visit

This cross-visit offers participants an in-depth look at organic farming practices and strategies across different types of fruit farms in Hungary. By the end of the visit, participants will:

  • Gain insights into the structure and management of alternative fruit production systems, including agroforestry, permaculture, silvo-pastoral systems, edible forests, wild fruit cultivation.
  • Understand the impact of subsidies and regulatory system on possible farm structures. The area of some alternative fruits as grown culture, which were wild collected earlier is growing in Hungary, we are going to introduce you successful productive farms.
  • Be familiar with possible solutions to these challenges and be able to provide informed advice. We will introduce you different marketing strategies, like direct selling and the role of producer organisations.

Registration

You will be asked to provide some personal information, a brief description of your interest in joining this visit and your capacity in covering your travel costs. Participation is not immediate, but confirmation message is required, as the number of advisors who may join the visit is limited.

First-round registration deadline: 30 June 2026; Confirmation date: 15 July 2026

The registration deadline might be extended in case of undersubscription.
